My daughter has competed at two brilliant competitions this year at two great venues . One was the Badminton horse feeds champs for grass roots and the other was the Scottish equestrian magazine champs at SNEC . We have just an ordinary family horse that we love to bits and have really enjoyed travelling to these fantastic venues
staying away from home and meeting really friendly and helpful people. There should be more of these competitions to encourage the prelim and novice riders .

I couldn't agree more. I did the Trailblazers comp at Stoneleigh a couple of years ago and the thrill of staying away with competitors from all over the UK was fantastic. One of things that I'm looking at now is travelling somewhere in the UK with my horse and trying some new competition venues. Any recommendations?

The venues we like best are in Cumbria . Although we are from the north west we like Blackdyke and Kingswater. The organisors have been really friendly and accommodating .These are travelled in the day for us

The facilities at SNEC were brilliant and we would certainly make a weekend trip again. Celia Gladwyn the scottish regional BD organisor was very welcoming and friendly as was Kaz Jones from SNEC. We managed to see the end of the final day of the blue chip festival of champs and then competed on the sunday and travelled home on the Monday

BD take note more of this for the grass roots please

There is quite a bit for grassroots riders - Trailblazers, UK Riders, PUK, Area Festivals and often regional championships - in our area Sheepgate do both a winter and summer unaffiliated championship and an affiliated "Tack & Togs" championship (with qualifiers around the country), Fenning Farm do their own unaffiliated champs too as do others of the larger venues.
